What is it?

The Alias identity is a name personally selected by the applicant which reflects their gender self-determination. Once activated, the Alias identity becomes the exclusive identifier within the ERSU system, with no traceability to the legal name. The reserved area of the Student Portal will also be updated accordingly.

The Alias identity is only valid within ERSU structures and only for the purpose of facilitating day-to-day activities and accessing services within the institution. Certifications and self-certifications which are recognized as externally valid documents will only reference the individual's legal identity.

Do you wish to activate your alias identity?

Alias identity activation may be requested by students who wish to use a name other than their legal name to access the services offered by ERSU during the gender transition period. The Alias can be activated at the initial request for accessing ERSU's Right to Study services or at any point during the utilization of these services. It is contingent upon the joint signing of a confidential agreement between the applicant and the Director of the ERSU Student Service.

The Alias identity will remain active throughout the duration of the requested services unless explicitly interrupted by the individual making the request or due to the causes of interruption outlined in these regulations.

Individuals seeking to activate an Alias identity (referred to hereinafter as ‘applicant’ or ‘interested person’) are required to submit an application to the designated contact person using the forms prepared by ERSU, which can be accessed via the dedicated page on the ERSU website. The application must indicate the name and gender (male, female or other) chosen for the alias identity.

The designated contact person

An ERSU member of staff is appointed to manage the alias identities activated by ERSU. This contact person assists applicants in processing the request and at each stage of the process, ensuring accessibility, transparency, and the correct implementation of the Regulation. While carrying out their duties of providing information, support and assistance, they are bound by the obligations of secrecy and confidentiality.
